FAQ
Do I need a credit card for the free trial?
No, just an email.
What happens after 7 days of the free trial?
It stops by itself. No charge, nothing to cancel. If you do subscribe, you have 14 days to get your money back.
What is iLok?
The licensing system Pro Tools itself uses. Free account, no hardware.
What do I need?
macOS 10.15 or newer, Pro Tools (AAX) or Ableton Live.
On Windows, Logic, FL Studio or Reaper?

What does LatencyFix actually do?
It measures the timing gap between two audio sources and lines them up automatically, down to the sample. Think of it as a very precise ruler for latency, not a live-monitoring/jamming tool.
How accurate is it?
Sample-accurate. It works in milliseconds for the readout, but the actual alignment happens at the sample level.
Does it change the sound of my recordings?
No. It shifts timing, not tone. Nothing is processed, colored, or re-rendered — your audio stays exactly as recorded in your DAW.
What's the difference between LF Remote and LF IO?
LF Remote is the plugin you use inside Pro Tools and Ableton Live for recording with a musician somewhere else. LF IO is a separate app for measuring the round-trip latency of outboard hardware, like an external FX unit or a hardware insert chain — no DAW required.
Do I need a separate subscription for streaming audio to my musician?
Yes. LatencyFix handles the timing, not the audio transport. You'll need Audiomovers (or another real-time streaming service like Sessionwire) to actually send and receive audio during the session.
Do I need a wired internet connection?
Strongly recommended, on both ends. Wi-Fi can work, but one Wi-Fi connection can double the jitter in your round-trip timing. If you're upgrading anything for remote sessions, make it Ethernet.
What internet speed do I need?
5 Mbps symmetrical per stream minimum, 10 Mbps+ if you're streaming stereo at a high sample rate.
Does my musician need to buy LatencyFix too?
Yes — both sides run the plugin. Yours runs in Producer mode, theirs runs in Musician mode. The Musician-side instance just keeps the connection alive, and doesn't touch their audio.
How many computers can I use my license on?
Two, under the same iLok account. Use iLok License Manager to deactivate one before moving to a third.
Can I use LatencyFix to measure my outboard gear, not just remote sessions?
Yes — that's what LF IO is for. Connect a hardware unit between an output and input on your interface, hit Initiate, and you get its round-trip latency in milliseconds and samples.
Do I need an internet connection to use LF IO?
No. It's a local measurement tool for outboard hardware — no network involved.
How long should my remote takes be?
Under a minute is the general recommendation, and shorter still if either side is on Wi-Fi.
Will LatencyFix work if my musician and I are running different sample rates?
No — both sides need to match. A mismatch won't break anything, but your latency reading will be off (correct in samples, wrong in milliseconds).
What if the connection to my musician won't lock in?
There's a Recalibrate Engine button in the plugin for exactly this. If it still won't lock, it's almost always a routing issue on one end — the manual has a full troubleshooting section, or you can reach support directly.
Can I use my own streaming service instead of Audiomovers?
Yes, any compatible real-time audio streaming solution works — Audiomovers is just what the included templates are set up for. Also Sessionwire is very recommended.
